INTRODUCTION / HISTORY

Mónica Gómez Professional Dance School was born in 2000 thanks to the effort, dedication and love to the dance and teaching by its creator, being the culmination of a work begun more than twenty years ago by two teachers, nowadays friends, who set the School up seven years ago and that still remains.

Mónica Gómez is a diplomaed Spanish Dance teacher by the Granada´s Professional Dance Conservatory since 1997, with more than twenty years of experience in the business, ten of them basically developed and focused to the teaching to different groups -suiting it to the requirements of each one-, and to some common deficiencies, as the training to accede to the Conservatory´s Basic and Medium Levels, obtaining very good results in passing the trials.

Another teachings are Classic Ballet, Spanish Dance and Modern Dance, which can be combined with subjects as Dance History, Body Expression, Anatomy of Dancing, Make-up and Initiation to the Music.

We can mention in her curriculum the lessons taken in seminaries or courses imparted by some of the most prestigious and known teachers as JOSE ANTONIO RUIZ (choreographer and dancer, nowadays the Spanish National Ballet Director), ANA MARIA BUENO (Spanish Classical Teacher in Madrid´s Conservatory), AIDA GOMEZ (Director, choreographer and Spanish Classical dancer), RAMON OLLER (choreographer and Metros Company Director), MARIA GIMENEZ (Classical dancer who leads her own company), ELOY PERICET (Spanish Dance choreographer) and JAVIER LATORRE (Spanish Dance Director and choreographer).

Yearly Mónica Gómez Professional Dance School carries out a Festival, with a choreographic sample, where it is sought, as a fundamental objective, the development of the students´ artistic personality, looking for the improvement of their academic basis, and encouraging them to be good dancers, making them to enjoy the magical moment of performing in a professional stage, before an audience, and showing all the teachings learned during the course.

To reach this objective is fundamental for, in the future, aspiring to do the Dance professional career, like many pupils who have been studying at the School and, nowadays, are professional dancers or Professional Dance Conservatory students.
